General Questions

  • Our salon is located in downtown Carlsbad where we host all of our Bridal Trials and take clients for haircuts, color, highlighting, balayage, and massage. For weddings, we travel to you — anywhere near San Diego including Temecula, Julian, Idyllwild, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, Orange County, LAX, and beyond. Reach out even if you’re not in the Southern California area, we love to travel!

  • Once you receive a quote, we ask for a 30% deposit to secure your date.

  • Use the link below that says “chillzilla login”. Username = your email Password =emailed to you after you place your deposit.

  • Find the "chillzilla login" below to access your personalized client portal. User name = your email Password =will be emailed to you upon your deposit.

  • We're tight like that ;) Your contract applies to both parties commiting to every appointment, date, invoice, etc. within your personalized client portal.

  • Absolutely. When you receive your invoice, you have the opportunity to update the number of services once before placing your deposit. After your deposit is made, you can only add services to the invoice.

  • A month before your wedding day. That way, you can fully relax and get pampered on your wedding morning and not worry about payments.

  • We will happily shift your deposit to another date and try our best to get the artists who performed your trial to be there.

  • Yes! Nationally & Internationally!

  • Yes! Just ask. As long as the final payment comes at the usual time (a month before), we can get a plan in place.

  • Once we’ve received your deposit and seen you for your Bridal Trial, you’re pretty much all set! We’ll email you to confirm your timeline a few months before and check in with you a week before your wedding day to confirm the address/room #’s/etc.

    If you need to view or update anything, including adding notes and inspirational photos, once you’re an official chillzilla, you’ll receive your very own personalized client login that you can access and update anytime.

  • Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! If your wedding date is within 3 months, a $299 rush fee applies. This gives your booking priority coordination, helps us secure artists on short notice, and ensures your day comes together seamlessly without added stress.

  • If you and someone else are getting married around the same time and/or book around the same time, ask us for some referral love!

  • Our service fee ensures our artists are compensated fairly for their time, preparation, and expertise. It also supports the behind-the-scenes work that keeps your experience seamless, from coordination and communication to timelines, admin, and product restocking.

    Because the service fee incorporates the standard gratuity, you are not required to add anything extra.

    However, if you feel especially taken care of and want to show additional appreciation to your artist(s), many clients still choose to add a tip on top, and it is a lovely bonus for your artist(s).

  • Natural glam is our specialty: skin that still looks like skin and an elevated version of your best self. Full glam uses extreme full-coverage foundation, heavy powders, and a usually a bold, dramatic eye with a heavy glam lash. We can absolutely rock a more dramatic eye and still soft contour with natural glam, but we keep the complexion fresh, seamless, and never cakey.

Services + Products + Skin and Hair Prep

  • All day and all night! A big reason why we’re passionate about being there for your wedding day is knowing all the steps needed for you to look and feel your best all night. You can relax knowing we’ve got you!

  • Each service takes around 45 mins. We will work with your timeline so that everyone is ready on time.

  • We bring the highest quality of products to meet eco-conscious standards, including being cruelty-free, paraben-free, and hypo-allergenic.

  • Contrary to what was ingrained in us for years about dirty hair being ‘better’, we’ve found over the years that having clean, fresh hair is best. That way we can get the optimal lift. We can always grit it up with some texture spray or defrizz with products.

  • Yes! Waterproof and “wear proof”. Please note that waterproof and smudge-proof are two different things.

  • Yes!

  • Blow-drying is not included in our hairstyle service, but we are happy to add it on! It takes an additional 45 minutes or more, which may require an extra time slot and/or stylists. It’s definitely a great option to add to your day as it gives amazing body and preps the hair perfectly for styling. Just let us know if you'd like to include it!

  • Yes! We are all about diversity and inclusivity.

  • We are proficient in ALL skin and hair types! Our team is diverse and we believe it’s really important to be inclusive. Your Bridal Trial is a great way for us to collaborate and give you the wedding look of your dreams.

  • Of course! We charge hourly to rock out another look. Just remember, “the party flows where the Bride goes”. So if you’re having a second look, it might take up to an hour depending on your look. If we can squeeze it into the timeline, great! Just remember, you will miss that time with your spouse/party/photos/etc.

  • Not for the face. We’ve found that traditional airbrush can feel dry or look heavy, while today’s makeup technology has advanced so much that our favorite hand-applied products create a more natural, radiant, and long-lasting finish. That said, we do offer body airbrushing for tattoo coverage, blending, or creating an even skin tone.

  • Nope! We love a glow up and we’ll match the makeup to your skin no matter what.

  • Nope! We have everything. Of course, you’re welcome to bring any products you love. We do highly encourage you to purchase a lip color so you can reapply it throughout the night. We can recommend a color and brand on your Bridal Trial or give you a small sample on your wedding day.

  • Of course. Check our services page for pricing.

  • Yes! Bundling hair + makeup = savings of ~$40 per person. If you start with one service and then add on another, we’re happy to update your invoice.

  • Yes! Our Rushed Wedding Fee ($299) fast-tracks scheduling, with primary coordination and artist confirmations within 90 days. It’s a one-time, non-refundable event fee; service rates are separate.

Bridal Trial

  • We recommend 3-4 months before your wedding day to create a skin and hair care plan so you can radiate on your wedding day. Pairing your trial with an event such as your Engagement Shoot or date night is an excellent idea.

  • 2 hours for hair and makeup.

Wedding DAy Timeline

  • Once we know:

    1) What time your ceremony is

    2) If you’re having a first look

    3) If you need to travel to your venue after getting ready

    4) Services needed, we can determine when we need to arrive and start.

    We can chat about this during your consultation call or during your Bridal Trial. We will send out your timeline for approval 1-3 months before your wedding day.

  • We recommend the bride gets ready second to last—right before the final person. This gives you time to relax, greet vendors, and avoid getting interrupted mid-glam. When you're last, it can feel rushed, overwhelming, and like everyone’s waiting on you (even though there’s time…it’s a weird subconscious thing). Getting ready earlier ensures you're photo-ready, calm, and able to enjoy those final moments before "I do." Trust us—we’ve done this almost 1000 times.

  • Pro-Chillzilla Tip: We get our brides ready second to last—about an hour before the photographers arrive—so you can relax and enjoy the moment without being rushed. To make the most of this calm window, have your details (like invitations, rings, jewelry, perfume, shoes, and any meaningful items) set aside and ready to go. That way, when the photographers show up, you can simply point them in the right direction and get back to soaking it all in.

  • We strive to bring out the chillzilla in you. This means we ensure you’re ready around 2+ hours before your wedding ceremony. This might seem like a lot of time, but trust us, it’s needed. Here’s why:

    You and your bridal party are ready. Then, you have…

    • 5-15 mins | Welcoming your photographers + vendors.

    • 20 mins | Photos with your loved ones “getting ready” — read below about how getting ready photos are totally ‘faked’ and that you’re already ready.

    • 10-20 mins | You and your loved ones change into your wedding attire.

    • 20 mins | Photos with your family + loved ones in your wedding attire.

    • 20-30 mins | First look

    • 10 mins | First looks with other family members, pets, etc.

    • 30 mins | Family Photographs

    • 10mins - 1hr | Driving to your venue or ceremony site.

    Now that we’ve rocked over 800 weddings, this is generally the timeframe we’ve seen. Of course, elopements and having no first looks, change the timeline, which we will customize with you.

    And, don’t worry. Your hair + makeup will last all day + night. We’ve even had chillzillas text us the next day to say their look is still flawless the morning after*.

    *We highly recommend washing your glam the night of the wedding, but we totally get the face plant full glam post-wedding.

  • This answer depends on a few things:

    1) When do you and your loved ones need to be ready?

    2) If it opens at 11am, do we have enough time to get everyone ready on time?

    Ideally, we start at another location with a “normal timeline” (usually from 8am-2pm. Once everyone is ready, you and your party can enjoy the bridal suite for a few hours before the ceremony.

  • At the end of glam before your first look/ceremony. We like to call this "faked for Hollywood" 😉 Everyone is already ready, and you pretend to put a brush up to your face or redo your lipgloss for the photos.

  • While we aim for 45 minutes per service, depending on the bridal trial/inspirational style, or adding extensions, we may add more time to the timeline. As experts, we’ll let you know if you need more time; otherwise, you’re good!

  • Even if “buffer” is or isn’t on the timeline, as professionals who rock weddings almost every weekend, we keep a close eye on the clock, and try to buffer in time by having a goal of getting ready 2 hours before your ceremony (preferably).

WEDDING DAY

  • Clean, dry hair. No makeup. Moisturizer w/ NO spf.

  • We prefer makeup first. That way, we don’t have to clip away and mess with your hair. Still, we can always recurl anything if needed.

  • If you want! We charge an hourly fee plus the cost of a style to rock out another look. Just remember, “the party flows where the Bride goes”.   • Clean, DRY Hair w/ no makeup and NO spf.

  • 1) Hand off your Details

    Chillzilla Tip: Prep a bag or spot with all your photo-worthy details—shoes, rings, invites, perfume, etc.—so your photog can grab and shoot while you may still be in glam.

    2) Take "“Getting Ready” photos with your final touches in glam.

    3) Change into your dresses!

  • ​The styles hold longer if they're fully dry. That being said, it's really hard to get fully dry in the AM (even though it seems dry). So! We always recommend coming with hair from the night before, even if you have product/hairspray from rehearsal dinner (even bettter!).

Artist Collective

  • For your bridal trial, we will connect you with the artists who will be there on your wedding day. The hair and makeup in the photographs on our website and Instagram are a combination of our top-tier talented team of artists.

  • Generally speaking, for hair and makeup, two artists are needed for 4-7 people, two-three artists are needed for 7-8 people, and three+ artists are needed for 10+. This is included in the price for a “normal timeline” between 8am-2pm. If you need to start earlier or need a shortened timeline (for an additional cost) please let us know asap. We will make sure that the proper amount of artists are there so that everyone is ready on time.

  • As listed in your contract, we will make sure to make sure another artist can step in without missing a beat.

  • We disinfect everything, wear proper masks (if needed), and are working on getting everyone on the team inoculated. Our salon is private, and you’ll most likely be the only client during your appointment. We also have huge windows that we open for fresh airflow.

  • Yes! We are all about diversity and inclusivity.

  • We are proficient in all skin and hair types! Your Bridal Trial is a great way for us to collaborate and give you the wedding look of your dreams.

  • We prefer to teach a slow flow the morning of the wedding to tap into the parasympathetic nervous system so everyone feels chill and grounded the morning of your wedding. Another reason why we keep it mellow is so your loved ones don’t have to shower and can change right after and shift into hair and makeup. If we’re teaching at a bachelorette or wellness weekend, we’re happy to kick it up a notch and teach a Vinyasa flow.

  • We’ll make sure enough artists are there to take care of your loved ones. Each artist can handle about 6-8+ services. If you need a shortened timeframe, please let us know.

Wellness

  • We prefer to teach a slow flow the morning of the wedding to tap into the parasympathetic nervous system so everyone feels chill and grounded the morning of your wedding. Another reason why we keep it mellow is so your loved ones don’t have to shower and can change right after and shift into hair and makeup. If we’re teaching at a bachelorette or wellness weekend, we’re happy to kick it up a notch and teach a Vinyasa flow.
